That thing is way weird. Mine hasn't given any fits once I got it right. There are times where she still idles a tad high after a run, but, I bump the throttle and she comes right back. Plug looks fine, and the piston/combustion chamber both looked super when I had the head off for the head gasket. I'm pleased, but, I gotta know what the power bowl will do;)

I hear you there! This carb ever since I swapped up on the pilot, never high idled again.

i really want to try a power bowl or a aftermarket accl pump on this fcr, it never has been "perfect" response wise. its a tad slug-ish down low. may just be the fact that its a freaking huge carb. i will probably try a 37mm fcr before to long. curiosity is a killer lol there is "over carbing" a motor. and IMO a 37mm FCR would be more then enough man with proper jetting. Wall-E runs pretty well with the 39 but if you can find one cheap go for the 37. always worth a shot. The 39mm FCR is a huge carb for this engine. If you don't have your intake manifold, head ported to match the size and displacement needed for this carb then it will be "soft" down low and or having tuning problems as there just isn't enough velocity through the carb and jet blocks to pull or push (what ever engine theory you go off of) the air/fuel charge into the cylinder. Add to that a big cam and it makes the problem even worst. Stock setup head and intake manifold about the biggest I'd go is 37mm. Drivability and coming out of the corners (bottom end throttle response will be so much better) with a smaller carb and won't give up to much top end since the carb is a flat slide.

I run a Mikuni TM-36-68. 36mm RS style flat side carb with accel pump. I've had it bored to a 38.5mm.
I think it's a great flat slide carb if you are looking for a simple, very easy to tune and great performing carb. The FCR's are more complicated and more adjustability and because of this the perform slightly better.

I agree on the soft down low on a stock displacement. After you get around2500 its gone. And then you can play all you want. Which is perfect with my style of high rpms and riding it hard. Although a splitter blade in these carbs both on the motor and filter side helps tremendously with the 'lag' or 'dead spots' by increasing the velocity at and below1/2 throttle.
The interesting thing is if your not running it wide open or on the track, the fcr is incredibly efficient. Rode 8hours at Hatfield on one tank of fuel.
I would still like to try the 37

I'm not experiencing any problems. But, I've got another 31cc of displacement. I love the whistle it has when you ease on the throttle;)

Sounds like you have it tuned pretty good though if you got a full tank on a 8 hour ride.
