The beginning! I picked this bike up along with a mint 1987 Warrior and a load of parts for the price of $1600. Both bikes ran and this one was in the worst shape. But it was far faster and handled far better. I gave the '87 to my oldest daughter to ride and I kept this one. Later I sold the '87 and most of the parts.

Rode the bike for a while like it was to see if I liked it. I started to enjoy the bike and decided to keep the ugly thing. The first problem was it was not titled and that bothered me so I searched through the classifieds on this other site and found a frame and some parts for sale about 2 hours from me. So it was road trip time. I scored quite a few parts and the titled frame for $150.

So I tore it down and started the change over.

So I decided to go with a red and White theme over the teal and white. Sent the Teal parts to my buddy Levi.

So the engine ran very strong with no issues. So first item to mod was the suspension, because as we all know the Warrior suspension SUCKS!! First set of front shock I tried was a set of Raptor 350 stock shocks. Direct bolt in, with better overall performance and plentiful and cheap(around $50). I ran those for a while and liked them but still wanted better. So I took measurements and did some research and found some Work performance shocks on eBay. Oh by the way LT500 fronts are a direct bolt on for the Warrior. Most of my time is spent researching what works, bolt on aftermarket is boring to me. Still running the Works but looking for some YFZ450R shocks.

Next up was the rear suspension. I was sporting a stock pink shock. I also blew out the seal one night riding. So back to researching. Got talked into buying a Banshee rear shock, never even got it installed before I purchased a Raptor 660 shock. I ran the 660 shock for a while but seemed to harsh and raised the back of the bike up to high. Did some more measurements and found that the Honda 300ex was a direct bolt in. Watched eBay for a Warrior aftermarket and the Honda forum. Found one in the classifieds on the Honda forum in a picture that nobody noticed. Score! Still running the Works, Kind of on the fence on it. It works well but might look for something different, I would like more adjustment. That is the true problem with Works no rebound and compression dampening adjustment.

Next on the agenda A Arms! Stock handling sucks. Back to eBay! Found some Raptor 350 ASR used arms listed wrong with a low buy it now price. Consulted my buddies about measurements, bought them! Score! The arms were in nice shape and are a direct bolt in. The alignment was close so I ran them as is. Worked good, I just recently did a full alignment on it. Straight and true now. Before After

So with the suspension out of the way, on to performance. I can't remember the order that I tried and tested the parts to get where I am today but I'll try to recap. First was the exhaust, it had an Aluminum DG muffler and DG two piece head pipe. Both were junk! So after I checked I found that the Raptor 350 stock muffler would work, bought one and the aftermarket tip for it. Ran it for a while, it sounded and performed well. I ended up sending it to Levi after I got my GYT-R muffler and I think Cole has it now. Back to eBay. Bought a GYT-R muffler for a Raptor 350 with the Race tip on it, I ended up buying a quieter tip later on but only installed it once. Great quality muffler! Bought a stock head pipe, and decided to mod it like a Powerbomb to see if it increased the performance, and it did in my case. And thats how the Torq pipe came about. Later on I found a FMF stainless steel header on eBay brand new for $25. I bought it and wrapped it with header wrap.

Next I started having trouble with my starter clutch so I replaced it and the Cam chain. I used a Wiseco chain and China clutch. This leads me to my cam shaft and head and Wiseco Piston. After I made this repair I got about a five minute ride out of it before I bent a valve?? Yep forgot to torque the Cam gear bolt! So tear down time! So the Cam, come to find out, the reason the thing ran so hard is it had a HotCams Stage one cam in it! WooHoo!! But I still had a bent valve. I talked to Levi who at this time had alot of extra parts and a different direction for his bike. He sent me a P&P head with a MegaCams 252 cam, the head had all of the best jewelry in it. I ordered Kibblewhite valves and installed new seals. He also traded me Jugs and piston setups, which gave me a Wiseco 10.25:1 piston, I ordered new rings and installed all of the parts. I ran the MegaCams 252 for a very short time and then sent it to Weston and the HotCams Stage 1 to Levi. I tried the Web grind 88, great cam better than the others I tried but ended up sticking with the Web Grind 84, which is by far better than all the others I ever tried!!!!! I also in the meantime picked up an adjustable Cam gear and installed it in the stock position until I get time to Degree my cam.

On to the Carb setup! Th bike had the original carb on it which worked fine. I did all of the Mods that people know about which helped, but I did not like the pen spring one. It made the throttle to stiff. So I looked for a new Carb. I ended up trading the stock one for a Mikuni VM36. It was a good carb after I got it tuned which took quite a few jets. But I found an Edelbrock Quicksilver. I picked it up for a good price, and have fell in love with it. In my book it is hands down the best Carb for my bike. It brought this bike to life!! I know many will disagree but I'm sticking to it. I also hit up Weston to build me a custom intake and boxto follow the carb. Nice job and good work! Since then I have removed the box and built an aluminium mounting plate, similiar to his design. I love this setup!!!!

Next was the Clutch and cover setup. The clutch that was in it was a Barnett or something cant remember. But in forth gear at around 3/4 throttle the clutch would give up. So I was back to the drawing board. Weston and I discussed the problem and he contacted Driveline to see if the had a solution. And they did, 7 full frictions and 5 steels, with HD springs. I purchased that setup and installed it. I also picked up a Hydraulic clutch setup too. While I had the clutch cover off I modded it for the oil cooler setup and polished it. The hydraulic clutch is cool, but the Raptor 350 setup has an easier pull. The clutch pack I run is awesome! I would recommend it to anyone $74.

I then started to work on the ergonomics of the bike. To start, the bars were to low and uncomfortable. So I stretched my steering stem 3". Now the bars are at a comfortable height. I also added 1" adapter mounts for 1 1/8" TAG bars. Then an extended thumb throttle, which I think I will change out for a Honda thumb throttle soon. THe seat was in pretty good shape but the padding was way to soft. So I removed the cover and trimmed out the soft section and glued in a 2" peice of high density piece of neoprene type foam. After that I installed a new black Gripper seat cover.

Stopping was an issue with the bike. Weston and I got together and made up some YFZ450 brake caliper mounting plates. So I installed the calipers on the front wheels(direct bolt in, and used my bracket and a left front YFZ caliper to mount the back one. This gave the bike unbelievable stopping power!

Some other thing I have done: Built cooling air scoops to direct more air over the top end of the engine. Installed a Vitos key in the flywheel. I will most likely remove this once I complete my programmable CDIs. Replaced the stock axle with a Durablue.

My latest changes include Yellow Tank cover and Hood AC Wide Rear grab bar and a DG national front bumper for a Raptor 350(not a direct bolt on). Added an AMP link
